Deployment Opportunities

DoD has relied on its civilian workforce to deploy in support of expeditionary requirements for as long as contingency operations have existed. DoD civilians are a critical part of the Total Force and essential to ensuring the readiness, capability, capacity, and lethality of our military forces. From 2001 to present, DoD civilians have provided significant support to military forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations throughout the world.

Primary Occupational Needs for Deployment

There are a broad range of occupations represented by the civilian workforce within our deployed locations. Available positions range from blue collar to white collar, to include senior executive deployment opportunities.

The chart shown above reflects the primary occupational deployment needs for the combatant commands. Logisticians (0346), Financial Management Specialists (0501), Human Resource Specialists (0201), IT Analysts (0132), and Engineers (0801/0810/0819/0830/0850), Safety (0018) and Emergency Management (0089/0080s) are in high demand within the deployed environment.

The MoDA Program is designed to forge long-term relationships that strengthen a partner country's defense or interior ministry. The program matches senior Department of Defense (DoD) civilians with ministry counterparts in similar functional areas.
